#ALEXANDROS GIRL A FULL#

Wataridori is one of those songs which I loved the first time I heard it and would have loved to have heard it played live – but oh well, there’s always next time (I hope)! This is a band I’m bummed about missing out at Rock in Japan fes that I attended in August this year – their relaxed style of sound would have really added to my summer memories of Japan. In this case, the line of cheerleaders is followed by one of the band members dressed like them and the crew laughing their heads off from behind the camera. The video ends with a shot of the members fooling around which is characteristic of music videos, and I always look forward to these little bits which can catch you off guard specially if the song that preceded it was heavier on emotions. In terms of repeat value, I’d say it’s not my go-to song but it makes for a great background tune while you’re driving or sipping your coffee. One of the things that will catch your attention is the bass line which goes perfectly with the song and will have you tapping your feet to its straightforward melody and beat. In any case, fluff isn’t what is required since the charm of this song is its laid back and simple vibe. Kawakami sings “I like singing, without a word … I feel like dancing, without a step …” and “I feel like dancing up all night, I’m gonna take you with me, It’d be alright…” The song itself is pretty repetitive in tune and feel which pumps up on the instruments and beat towards the end which is a pleasant and pretty standard thing to do to complete the song. You don’t need much else to enjoy the song. With splashes of color, shots of various food and occasional confetti on a plain background, the square bracket theme of the band is omnipresent.

With girls in cheer-leading outfits that remind you of Gaga dancing around a white set, the backdrop of the video doesn’t change much and the band along with the blond-wig wearing girls just groove about the set throughout the song. The song lyrics are entirely in English and I must say that they really suit the vibe of the song and have been done really well. Though it’s raining here in spite of being October, ’ new MV “ Feel Like” makes me feel like I’m sitting in a coffee shop in Tokyo surrounded by the fall season.
